Until then, lets take a look back in time to the year 2010 and revisit our kitchen renovation (which, by the way, will not be touched in this new renovation).

(rewinding time............ a time in which I did not have a good camera so please disregard the quality of these pictures.... but you get the idea)
The year was 2010. The month was November.

We had been married for about 2.5 months and decided that, instead of our already planned honeymoon/Christmas in Fiji, we would renovate our kitchen.
Our plans were grand. Our expectations were high. We had no idea what we were doing but figured with the help of youtube tutorials, anything would be possible.

We would do the work ourselves...

From the demolition of the old kitchen to the removal of the tiles...

We became experts in the art of make-it-up-as-you-go home renovations.

There were tight squeezes had in the attic...

And plenty of dust and dirt to last a life time.

We taught ourselves how to cut and lay bamboo flooring in the wee hours of the morning...

and made bad choices like tearing down a wall that supported our entire roof or wearing flip flops in a demolition zone...

(the only injury sustained was that of my poor right foot)

We lived in a bit of dust and dirt and cooked on a camp stove for months. We worked on weekends and before and after work. We made mistakes and called on friends for help. We learned a lot about a lot and could not have been happier by the time it was all over!
Here are a few before and after shots...

And in the end, we were super happy with the way it turned out. Sure it may have taken 18 times longer doing it ourselves, but we were enthusiastic back then and ready for the adventure.

On the 17th June 2013 our roof will be removed, followed by 4 months of renovation joy. This time we are really going for it, hiring a builder and making our house into something quite different. It will be dirty. It will be loud. But in the end, IT WILL BE AWESOME!
Never a dull moment around the de Baugy house, that is for sure!
