broooom broooom.

Last weekend we loaded up Max's dirt bike, met up with the Bishop family and headed... well, I am not actually sure where we went. We drove for about an hour and a half and arrived at a farm that had been transformed into a motorbike heaven for the weekend.

Unlike most of the rides Max usually goes on, this was an organised ride for the whole family. They had several different tracks marked out for every level rider from the little tinny, tiny kiddos all the way up to riders like Max and his friend Bill.

While everyone was out riding their respective tracks, Lachlan and I walked over to check out the little baby pee wee riders.

Seriously, some of those kids could not have been much bigger than Lachlan! And as much I would like to say my little baby boy will never get on one of those things, I know I am wasting my breath with a husband like mine. So I decided the best thing I can do at this point is try my best to get use to the idea by watching other little guys for the next few years. Sigh... #scaredmomma

The best part of these kinds of rides for "watchers" like myself is that everyone rides for a little while and then comes back for a little rest or something to eat. So instead of seeing only everyone at the beginning and end of the day, I got to see them several times and catch up on how the ride was going... and stuff like that (I mean, lets not pretend I know anything at all about this kind of stuff- but I like to ask them how it was and shake my head like I understand or know what they are talking about).

Motor bike riding is a whole family affair for the Bishops!

After a short break, everyone went out to ride again while Lachlan and I relaxed and had some lunch back at camp.

After a full day of riding, Lachlan was finally able to jump on daddy's bike.

Unfortunately for me, he seemed to love it already.

renovation 2013.

Well folks, it is officially official. Plans have been drawn, colours have been chosen, bathroom tiles have been picked. We are renovating! There is much to be done and little time in which to do it, so I will be brief now and update you as the magic happens.

Until then, lets take a look back in time to the year 2010 and revisit our kitchen renovation (which, by the way, will not be touched in this new renovation).

(rewinding time............ a time in which I did not have a good camera so please disregard the quality of these pictures.... but you get the idea)

The year was 2010. The month was November.

23 May 2013-kitchen before and after013

We had been married for about 2.5 months and decided that, instead of our already planned honeymoon/Christmas in Fiji, we would renovate our kitchen.

Our plans were grand. Our expectations were high. We had no idea what we were doing but figured with the help of youtube tutorials, anything would be possible.

23 May 2013-kitchen before and after006

We would do the work ourselves...

From the demolition of the old kitchen to the removal of the tiles...

23 May 2013-kitchen before and after005

We became experts in the art of make-it-up-as-you-go home renovations.

23 May 2013-kitchen before and after008

There were tight squeezes had in the attic...

23 May 2013-kitchen before and after014

And plenty of dust and dirt to last a life time.

23 May 2013-kitchen before and after012

We taught ourselves how to cut and lay bamboo flooring in the wee hours of the morning...

23 May 2013-kitchen before and after015

and made bad choices like tearing down a wall that supported our entire roof or wearing flip flops in a demolition zone...

23 May 2013-kitchen before and after009

(the only injury sustained was that of my poor right foot)

23 May 2013-kitchen before and after010

We lived in a bit of dust and dirt and cooked on a camp stove for months. We worked on weekends and before and after work. We made mistakes and called on friends for help. We learned a lot about a lot and could not have been happier by the time it was all over!

Here are a few before and after shots...

And in the end, we were super happy with the way it turned out. Sure it may have taken 18 times longer doing it ourselves, but we were enthusiastic back then and ready for the adventure.

On the 17th June 2013 our roof will be removed, followed by 4 months of renovation joy. This time we are really going for it, hiring a builder and making our house into something quite different. It will be dirty. It will be loud. But in the end, IT WILL BE AWESOME!

Never a dull moment around the de Baugy house, that is for sure!
