So where in the world were we and why was this a secret mission you ask? Well, after months of keeping this big secret, we boarded a plane to Melbourne for Max's best mates SURPRISE 40th birthday. Yep, that is right. Max's friends are now turning 40 and I'll tell you now, he isn't far behind :)
We arrived in Melbourne early Saturday morning and met our lovely host, Alicia at the airport. After a drive out of the city and through the hills, some delicious lunch and a wee little nap, we trotted over to Brooke and Aaron's house where the surprise was going down.

While we waited for Aaron to arrive home from a day of four-wheel driving with Sledge, I admired all of the incrediable effort Brooke put into this amazing surprise party. It was like a mini wedding reception I tell you! There was no detail missed and the house just looked amazing.
Finally, after "10 minutes" of waiting for the boys to arrive (I think they got stuck at the pub) the big surprise happened... and surprised HE WAS!

I think he was expecting a new dirt bike, so imagine the surprise when he took off the blindfold and saw all of these strange people on his back deck!

Shocked would be the best way to describe it I would say.

Shortly after the surprise and a quick shower to wash off the mud from a day in the bush with Sledge, cold drinks were opened and the party began!

There was "cheers"-ing with friends...

And heaps of yummy, yummy food (of course I didn't get many pictures of this because I was too busy stuffing my face, haha).

There was live music...

And "you're an old man now" party gifts.

There were jokes and laughter...

And visiting with friends.

And oh, THERE WAS DESSERT!!!!

Lots and lots and LOTS of dessert!!

Complete with a candy bar (the way to my heart)...

And custom made M&M's with the good ol' birthday boy's face on them!

And around 2am the party ended while we all stuffed our goodie bags full of sugar and headed home for the night.

A special thanks to Brooke for all of the amazing effort she put in to this wonderful party. These two friends are two of Max's closest and we were so happy we could be there to celebrate such a special occasion!
